  1. 18+ Patch

Are you sure? I'm running the director's cut, and I definitely got that scene (looking through my screenshots on OneDrive, it looks like I screenshotted the very next line after that)
  2. Anime Central 2017

Provisional ACen schedule has usSaturday mid-evening, which would be the best time we've ever gotten. Last year, we were on at 11:30PM Friday (next door to a rowdy dubbed hentai panel room), year before was 10AM Sunday. I should probably start filling out theslide deck, and finalizingco-panelists. Also, looking at my message at the beginning of the thread, my optimism about the timing of backer rewards and the release date of Alternative may turn out to have been overly optimistic. Maybe BETA hoodie meetup will have to wait forACen 2018.
  3. Anime Central 2017

Anime Central 2017 panel submissions open tomorrow. I'll be proposing another Muv-Luv panel, because THE STREAK MUST NOT BE BROKEN. Pre-Kickstarter, I would do this panel as an info-dump on the franchise, but for 2016, we figured enough people now knew about Muv-Luv from the Kickstarter that it would be good to kick around a panel discussion, so @Aetherdeusand @Dexomegajoined me (and we even got Theron Martin, who reviewed Schwarzesmarken for Anime News Network, to join for the last half). This went really well — you can download an MP3 of the panel from my little-used livestreaming site—and I am really psyched to do it again next year, if they'll have us. So, come join us in Chicago in May. By then, Alternative should be out, and we can all work through our PTSD together. But hey, we'll all have our Kickstartermerch by then, so y'all can show off your TSF pilot jackets and/or BETA hoodies. —invalidname
  4. Question

To say nothing of the fact that the first game has already been delivered via Steam.
  5. Anime Central 2017

    And we are… approved!
  6. Story arc names

HSST is before Mock Battles (which I've been calling "Paintball"). And I'm considering the events around Christmas and to the end of the gameto be their own arc, post-Volcano.
  7. Story arc names

I've started streaming some Muv-Luv Unlimited, and I've been referring to the current story arc (Takeru trying to get Sakaki and Ayamine to work together for their mock battle with Meiya, Miki, and Mikoto) as the "paintball arc". It made me wonder if there are agreed-upon fan names for all the various arcs. Some are obvious ("Lacrosse Arc", "Comprehensive Combat Skills Evaluation"), but others aren't. For example ,what do we call the arcs after paintball: Volcano and Christmas arcs? So, I thought about listing and naming Extra and Unlimited's arcs for myself, but then decided it might be better to hash it out here in the forums. Anyone got some suggestions?
  8. Kickstarter Updates

OP never said otherwise. They said they were posting it b/c there are community members who came in after the Kickstarter, and therefore can't see the KS posts. Old news to us, maybe, but it's probably useful to some of the new folks here.
  9. Alternative getting "retranslated"?

+1 to everything that Marx-93 said, with the addition that we already can see what an upgrade the script is, from the very positive reaction to Extra and Unlimited's new translation. With Extra in particular, it at times feelslike reading a new VN — the old translation totally fumbled the humor, and really buried the distinctiveness in the characters' voices, whereas the new one is genuinely fun and funny. (which of course, sets you up for the shock and horror of the later installments) As for Alternative, there are places where the fan translation is clearly wrong and begs for rewrites. For example, the last line of the Valkyries' motto "Achieve your mission with all your might! Despair not until your final breath! …" ends with the rather weak "Don't die in vain!" in the Ixrec translation, but even in âge's own promotional materials, before there was any thought of a complete English translation, it ends with the much stronger"Make your death count!" The fan translation also misses or mangles a number of callbacks to Kimi ga Nozomu Eien / Rumbling Hearts, which precedes it in-universe (in one notorious example in Extra, Mitsuki is misgendered in a reference).Since the ML translation lead is also working on KGNE on the side, it's a safe bet all those references will be corrected.
  10. Anime Expo 2017

I just noticed the AX hotel room blocks page, which says it opens to premiere attendeeson Feb 1, and general attendees on Feb 15. Are you saying everything will be gone to premiere before it even opens to general? A while back, I grabbed a reservation at a nearby Holiday Inn Express as a backup.Maybe I'll end up needing it.
  11. Anime Central 2017

OK, I'm hearing absolute silence on the cosplay front for Anime Central, so I'm not going to reserve a spot.
  12. Muv-Luv on Android/iOS

I bought a piece of crap $100 Windows tablet solely to play Muv-Luv and a few other VNs (ef, Clannad, Kindred Spirits on the Roof) that had been gathering dust because I couldn't be bothered to spin up Parallels to play them on my Mac often enough. At that price, you may find it preferable to remote screensharing. Mostly I was inspired by an episode of the âge livestream where they used a Windows tablet to give the Japanese audience their first look at the English translation (e.g., making Rienee read the "Buhooooobs?" line out loud)
  13. Anime Central 2017

Hey, I'll be at AX too! But that's another thread.
  14. Anime Central 2017

So, Anime Central just opened sign-ups for cosplay gatherings. We had a small one last year, but it was basically just me and@Aetherdeus, so if he's not coming, I can't really reserve a spot, since we need a back-up contact at a minimum. So, if you know you're cosplaying Muv-Luv at Anime Central (the big one in Chicago in May), please follow-up here or DM me and we'll put in for a spot. Otherwise, just look for me —either in the UN uniform from my avatar, or crossplaying Mitsuki in Hakuryo summer uni —and say hi.
  15. J-Novel Club

There's a new site called J-Novel Club that's publishing light novels in English, online only, in a Crunchyroll-style all-you-can-eat model. They have a forum for suggestions for titles they could pick up. Y'know, like Total Eclipse and Schwarzesmarken? Anyone want to back me up here?
  16. J-Novel Club

Speaking of light novels, Vertical has their annual reader survey up for one more day (ie, ends Dec 9), and the last question is for suggestions for light novels, limited to 6 volumes or less. Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse is 6 volumes. Off you go! Survey.
  17. Favorite Minami Kuribayashi song

It's probably impossible to come up with a complete list, but here are a bunch of the top OP and ED themes as poll choices. EDIT: I guess if you're going to pick "other", maybe post a comment about which song you'd pick instead?
  18. Anime Expo 2017

Is it still a 4-6-hour wait in the sun to pick up badges? Is it best to do that on Day 0?
  19. Anime Expo 2017

I'm thinking of coming out for AX, although the hotel prices out there are scary. I'll be bummed if Kouki and Rienee aren't back for a third year, but riding on the back of Alternative's release -- Alternative will be out by then, right, guys?-- maybe it would be a good time for them to come back and promote it. Plus, whatever's next, whether that's the photons or Schwarzesmarken, or if there's any news on the Kiminozo "remake" (if that's really what it is?), or Duty - Lost Arcadia, orwhatever. Plus, maybe some of the Pacific Northwest folks from Alternative Projects will come down for AX (@evan? @sachibelle?). At any rate, I'll still definitely be going to Anime Central in May, and have a Muv-Luv panel proposal in for that one. This year's panel with @Aetherdeusand @Dexomega was so good…
  20. Anime Central 2017

Well, the ACenpanel submission form is borked at the moment (they require you to submit an outline, and it keeps rejecting mine because of its file extension… I guess that ".txt" is a bad thing now). While we're waiting for that to get fixed, here's the outline I'm going to send them: Muv-Luv 2017 outline, v. 1 1. Intro - Short summary of the main story and its spinoffs 2. Franchise update Extra/Unlimited released on Steam, July 2016 Alternative should be out Q1 2017 Photonmelodies / Photonflowers due sometime in 2017 Kickstarter merch should ship in Q1 2017 Schwarzesmarken VN greenlit on Steam, any news? Scharzesmarken anime - any English licensee yet? Kimi ga Nozomu Eien / Rumbling Hearts news? (all of Muv-Luv is technically a spinoff of KGNE. A fan translation is underway at, and a remake was announced at AX 2016) 3. Muv-Luv English fandom Now that the VNs are out in English, what's the reaction? Are there new fans of the series? Are there haters? 4. Muv-Luv themes Now that we can expect ACen attendees to have actually played the VNs, what do we think? What's it about? Love? War? PTSD? 5. Muv-Luv future Where is this franchise going? Will there ever be an anime of the main story? Why were the Total Eclipse and Schwarzesmarken anime critcial and commercial flops, respectively? (Were they?) What's next? (Will anything from Duty -Lost Arcadia- be out by ACen?) 6. Muv-Luv community Wikia,, blogs, Twitter personalities, etc. How to go beyond the VNs and dig deeper into the franchise Alternative Projects' fan translations, Japanese-only resources (age website, weekly NicoNico livestream, etc.), unlicensed anime, music
  21. Anime Central 2017

Death slot? No, no, no, 11:30PM on Friday night is not a death slot. 10AM on Sunday --where we were scheduled in 2015 --is a death slot. Hopefully, Muv-Luv is selling itself better, now that people can actually get the darn thing off Steam and play it. And that should lead to better spots on the schedule and better turnout. I might try to go to AX too, but with ACen just three hours away, there's no way I'm not going to go to ACen. And as the second biggest con in the US now (given the downturn at Otakon), it's a pretty good place to set up camp for a Muv-Luv panel, especially since fan panels are practically non-existent at AX.
  22. That's nice. I'm just here to tell you where you can get legalnon-DRM'ed digital audio files for a lot less money than importing physical media. If that's politically incorrect to you, there's always a chance Google Play or Amazon MP3 will have it. Just saying some of this stuff is out there and pretty easily available. Have a nice day.
  23. Also, someone fact-check me on this, but is Minami's first ED, "signs ~sakutsuki hitoyo~", in 6/8 time? The phrases seem too long to be 3/4. Anyways, the combination of unusual time-signature and militarydrums is perfect for a mecha anime like Total Eclipse.
  24. You can actually get Kumi Koda's "Go To The Top" from iTunes US: If you have an iTunes Japan card, you can get the "Total Eclipse Song Collection", with all the OPs and EDs, including Minami Kuribayashi's 1st ED "signs" and 2nd OP "Doubt The World": actually, tracks 2 and 4 seem to be missing from iTunes. Thanks a lot, Avex. 💩) Speaking of Minami, the real jackpot for her on iTunes Japan is the "10th Anniversary Best Album Stories" double album, nearly half of which is from Muv-Luv and Kiminozo, including "I Will" (Extra's ED), "Songs of Distant Earth" (Unlimited's ED), "マブラヴ"the main Muv-Luv theme, "Rumbling Hearts", "Next Season", and more.
  25. Hmm, tricky… feel like I want to spread the wealth a little… Takeru (Extra, Unlimited, Alternative) Mitsuki (Alternative [and Rumbling Hearts, if it counts]) Sandek (Total Eclipse)
